Adidas trying hard to go green!
Jaiyant Cavale | Jul 7 2008

As with the case of most companies these days, Adidas seems to be going ‘green’ too. There was a time when ‘green’ meant envy, well now it is another term for sustainability, environmental friendliness and the jazz. Adidas may find it difficult to go ‘green’ because the material they use for their products are mostly plastic. So when Vikesh Bhatt at 30gms found an interesting exhibit by Adidas under the bridge by Kingsland Road in London, it caught his attention immediately.

The shoe looked like as if made of plants and could have been a message for Adidas’ determination to prove their ‘green’ness. However, on a closer look the plants turned out to be plastic. Probably, Adidas wants to compete with Lakai, a shoe company that uses recycled materials. Nonetheless, using plastic for an intended green message doesn’t really serve the purpose and may attract negative publicity. On a more serious note, it would be very impressive if Adidas really went green and manufactured biodegradable sports goods.
