Beware of pyramid scheme ads; ASA
sijo joseph | Nov 29 2009

The advertising standards authority in Britain is considered as the watchdog of advertising ethics. Whenever an unfair practice comes up in advertising field, the ASA has always been there, wielding its axe. Now, in an example which shows its social responsibility, ASA has issued a warning to people against the Pyramid schemes and advertisements for them.

Pyramid schemes promise huge sums of money to participants who recruit others to the scheme. The ads for pyramid schemes are tempting and they offer huge sums of money to participants within a short time. However, these schemes are often misleading and cause financial damage to the participants.

ASA warns the public to treat ads of this nature with extreme skepticism and to avoid parting with any money up-front.
