Every time, Burger King Commercials seem to be make someone disturbing. Recently, a burger king ad featuring a woman with an open mouth has created quite a stir from many quarters. This time an advertisement for burger king in Spain has angered the Hindu community.

The ad depicted the Hindu goddess Lakshmi seated atop a meat sandwich. The tagline reads ‘La merienda es sagrada,’ meaning ‘the snack is sacred’. The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has termed it as “highly disrespectful and offensive to Hindus worldwide.”

Hinduism is a religion which observes strict vegetarianism among the major religious traditions and the use or consumption of meat in a religious context is generally proscribed. Moreover, depictions of divinity in the form of gods and goddesses are sacred to Hindus.
