Google Inc. has inked an exclusive agreement with Time Warner Inc.’s CNN unit to use Google’s AdSense advertising program for text-based advertisements. According to the agreement the AdSense service will place contextually relevant ads alongside CNN.com content, enabling both small and large advertisers to target CNN.com particularly. Under the arrangements of the deal, Google will be the exclusive provider of auction-based text advertisements throughout CNN.com. Financial terms of the agreement have not been revealed yet.

Speaking on the deal, David Payne, senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com has said, ‘Our new relationship with Google will deliver relevant ads to our users, enhancing their overall experience on CNN.com. We look forward to a successful partnership.’

At the same time, Director of strategic partnerships of Google, Marc Leibowitz, said, ‘By connecting CNN.com to our valuable base of advertisers, our AdSense program provides an effective and efficient way to monetize quality online content, ultimately benefiting readers, advertisers, and CNN.com.’

Google’s huge stock of advertisements can provide even a global website like CNN.com the ability to focus sponsored messages to relevant local merchants and service providers.
