Internet spend on advertising to overtake print
Krish | May 31 2006

Global advertising firm GroupM in its latest report has stated that the internet by the end of this year would overtake national newspapers in Ireland and would become the third largest medium as per advertising spending.

In 2006, the firm predicts that in comparison to national newspaper spending of 13.2%, spending in internet advertising will stand for 13.3%. The report has highlighted the pressure on newspaper as it is trying hard to find new ways to lure more advertisers.

Report author Adam Smith feels that as Internet spend is steadily growing on classified ads also, regional newspapers will feel the heat in the coming years.
