Kinokuniya Book Stores: enigma of art

This is of course a mystifying advertisement campaign for Kinokuniya Book Stores promoting its performing art section. The campaign apparently not easy going as it requires mind to read too much into it. The campaign centers around on a button of a music system and the signs such as play, pause and stop to emphasize its music section. The campaign has taken a very complicated approach in its depiction.

The campaign is a bit impenetrable for many as the depiction does not lead to express the core idea explicitly. The art direction used in the campaign and the photography has made this campaign of course good looking. The copy reads as, ‘Music books. RM10 voucher with every purchase from the performing arts section.’ The campaign was created Leo Burnett, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
