L'Alliance pour la planete: Five minutes of respite for planet

This is a unique campaign launched in public interest in France by the French Friends of the Earth, L’Alliance pour la planete. The campaign urges people to shut down all lights on February 1 for five minutes between 19.55 hours and 20.00 hours. The advertisement campaign maws launched with an aim to call attention of citizens, media and policy makers regarding wastage of energy and the urgency to come into action.

This is naturally a good idea to black out energy for few minutes to focus on the need of an efficient use of energy and use of alternative energy resources that have low level emission. The campaign also aimed at showing to the presidential candidates the importance of climate change. The organization wants climate change agenda should have considerable weight in the political discourse.

The copy of the ad says, ‘It is not obvious of living in darkness but if it is for the good cause... it is 5 minutes of respite for planet’.
