Green Party Drug and Alcohol spokesperson Metiria Turei says that absence of community groups, youths and NGOs from the advertising regulations has left a wide hole in the revenue process. It is felt that some crucial voices are missing from the panel. She feels that all of the people who are on the receiving end of liquor advertising are excluded from representing directly.

She does not have any problem with an industry representative or bureaucrats being on the panel, however, the balancing point of view from the community groups and of youth who directly withstand the worst of liquor, should have a representative on the board.
