'Maradona's Nightmare' Ad: A terrible shame!
Zodingliani | May 4 2006

Did you take a look at this ad? I am certainly not pleased. I am a big Argentina Fan and having to watch their soccer star Diego Maradona wearing a Brazilian football jersey disgusts me. No wonder it has all of Argentina’s citizens fuming.

Maradona was apparently paid $350,000, by brewer Guarana for this TV ad, who again happens to be one of the main Brazilian national team sponsors. As if wearing the jersey is not enough, he is even seen singing the Brazilian national anthem along with Kaka, Ronaldo and the rest of the team.

Maradona and his scandals; I am tired of it. Kick him to Brazil where he belongs (or does he really?).

I’m a soccer fan too (though not so much on the Argentina side of the fence). I also work in a multicultural agency of many, many like souls. The two things that have been missed in this whole Maradona/Brazil brou-ha-ha are: 1) the spot’s simply not that good and, 2) it’s Maradona’s nightmare, people, not his dream.

Hi Simpson! You’ve got a point. But I still believe wearing a competitor’s Jersy — esp only days before World Cup is something I call betrayal.
