Olympus Performs A Faux Pas!
Alpheus | Jul 10 2008

The effectiveness of an ad today is measured in terms of the three Ps - Premise, Pertinence and Presentation. Take one of these elements out and you have an ad that falls flat on its face. However, there are exceptions that often belie conventional wisdom. The Olympus E-520 is one such instance where the presentation clearly makes up for the lack of pertinence. Premise, though, has a relatively lesser role to play in the scheme of things. Digital cameras are certainly built for convenience and not professional photography. A brand positioning on the lines of motion blur elimination seems outlandish for this niche. Perhaps, a similar theme for an SLR camera would have earned better rewards. The ad is a curiosity generator, nevertheless.
