Polythene Kills!
Alpheus | Apr 7 2008

Socially conscious ads have the unique ability of holding nothing back when it really matters. There are no two ways about it. However, the subtlety in execution, despite the hard-hitting message embedded in the theme, is truly ironic. The soul of such ads lies not just in transforming the dramatic into intellectually provocative, but also in accentuating the urgency of a social message. When half the world is crying hoarse over banning polythene, evidently besotted with the convenience it offers, it takes a valiant effort to equate the same with destruction (read suffocation, here). And, the ad makers - UMS from Muscat - have recreated the magic traditionally associated with the marriage of compelling visuals and a eyeball grabbing message. Way to go!
