Sex should be consensual: Men are warned in British gov advert
Krish | Mar 16 2006

A thought-provoking advertising campaign from British Government is warning men to get consent for sex first. The ad launched by Home Office Minister Fiona Mactaggart targets 18-24 old demography and the message is pretty clear, if they have a sex without consent they could end up in jail for the charges of rape.

The adverts will appear in lads’ and men’s magazines, public toilets and on radio stations. The print campaign wants to raise awareness and understanding of consent among 18-24 olds, whilst the radio adverts are planned to broadcast at a time on early evening slots, when young people normally go out.

One print ad shows a man sitting on a prison bunk bed and says, “If you don’t get a yes, who’ll be your next sleeping partner?” Another shows a woman with an off-limits symbol on her underwear and says, “Have sex with someone who hasn’t said yes to it, and the next place you enter could be prison.”
