The bleeding billboard

Easter is traditionally the worst time of year for road accidents in New Zealand. The reason is the holiday rush combined with the first heavy rain after summer. PAPAKURA & FRANKLIN DISTRICT COUNCIL decided to give some safe-driving lessons to the kiwis through some attractive-turned-scary roadside billboards.

Auckland ad agency Colenso BBDO created three roadside billboards in the area featuring attractive-looking youngsters. But, when rain comes everything changes.

The posters were up for almost 3 weeks before the rains came. When rain comes they bleed. And when the sun shines they return to beautiful portraits to remind people to “drive to the conditions’’
