The furore against tobacco companies concealing the truth has always baffled me. Nicotine kills and this information is no longer a secret. And, therefore, any attempt to undermine a tobacco company’s propaganda has always sounded farce. “The Sunny Side of Truth” is a portal that projects itself as a guardian of the ignorant and seeks to uncover the truth behind manipulated tobacco statistics. Angels, elves and a motley crew of other animated creatures try and lend credibility to this initiative. Brilliantly designed, the website will undoubtedly score brownie points as an attention seeker. And an eerie background score further accentuates the organization’s ‘noble’ fight against ‘evil’ tobacco firms. However, it remains to be seen if the effort really has a genuine face. Truth doesnt have a sunny side in most cases. And this time, the verdict goes in favor of the majority.
