UK online ad spend to touch £ 2 billion this year: Report

The Internet Advertising Bureau has predicted that UK online ad expenditure is likely to overtake national newspaper advertising by the end of this year, if it maintains its present growth rate. The recent study has further revealed that the online ad spending in UK has reached just under £1 billion in the first half of the current year. The online expenditure has been shot up by 40.3 percent on year on year basis.

According to the report reports conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the World Advertising Research Centre on behalf of IAB, nearly £993.4 million were spent on press advertising during first half of the current year. Whereas the online ad revenues is not far behind with a whopping £917 million expenditure in the first half, just falling short by £76.2 million if compared with press advertising.

The study reveals that the internet consumed 10.5 percent of total UK ad revenue in the first half of the current year, which is up by 7.3 percent in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
