Its a complete weeeeeired story. One of the oldest and biggest advertising group, WPP has accepted resignation from Neil French, a top creative consultant in the firm following derogatory remarks at an industry event in Toronto in which the self professed “the best advertising copywriter that ever lived” described all women in the industry are crap, who inevitably wimp out and go suckle something,” they can not make it to the top because they don’t deserve to. The comment was made once the 61 year old executive was asked why women did not adequately represent senior positions in the advertising industry.
The cigar chomping French offered his resignation to the group after they (comments) brought barrage of complaints not only from the female executives of WPP but from other sectors also. The “Howard Stern of Advertising” though seemed totally at ease with all the hullabaloo as he always felt that it was the shock factor which makes him such big a name today.
Nancy Vonk, fellow senior creative executive who also considers herself a responsible mother with WPP called his comments “outrageous” and “derogatory.”
