WPP-Coke honeymoon over, Wieden+Kennedy new partner
Krish | Oct 27 2005

Double whammy for WPP. After Smasung now it was Coke’s turn to look for alternatives and finally they took on board Wieden+Kennedy. Declining sales and waning brand values throughout North America and Europe have become serious concerns for this cola major and for sometime now they have been strategizing new marketing policy to revive the flagship brand.
The newest task as it seems for Wieden+Kennedy will be to devise instant Coke Classic advertising game plan for the Thanksgiving and New Year holiday season.
The consolation prize for Berlin Cameron Red Cell (WPP wing that took care of the brand) would be some business from the cola giant who needs creative output and consultancy services from more than one agency to integrate the communication business worldwide.
Did Neil French foresee all these? Did he try to save his face by hiding under preplanned scandal?
