Women are beaty concious. They want to be perfect. However, there is not a clear definition of a perfect woman. Indeed, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But, while brands are presenting their idea of perfect woman, women are increasingly feeling self-concious and a new survey reaveals that it affects their self-esteem to a large extent.
Another interesting fact is that the study has been done by beauty brand Dove. The company questioned over 1,000 women and they opined that the beauty industry advertising campaigns are having a negative impact on their lives.
By airbrusing, we mean the technique of altering a model’s apperence and giving her a synthetic perfection. For example, photographers often make this kind of airbrushing by making models’ breasts look bigger or their waists smaller.
The reasearch points out that this airbrushing affects the self-esteem of the women, and 96 per cent of women questioned said they felt the models used in beauty advertising are not a realistic representation of women.
